Blossoms: A newsletter for the family and friends of Rose Blossom Nursery School

April and May 2009

Dear Parents,

Welcome Back! As you know, we have returned from spring break with a change of teachers at school. We are all adjusting, and understand that Kat is working somewhere else, even though she misses us. Brook is happy to be back at Rose Blossom, and we are happy to have her! Katie will be coming in on Mondays and Fridays, so we will see her tomorrow. All three teachers will be taking turns in the art room, so everyone can have some fun in there…We have had a lovely week back, the children have had a good time being together, and have jumped right back in to our routine and activities.

Hatching Chicks

Darlene has brought in an incubator, and put three eggs in it today. We are hoping to hatch out baby chicks in three weeks. Darlene is our substitute “mother hen”, and there is a lot to do! In addition to keeping the temperature at 100 degrees, the mother hen’s job is to turn the eggs two times a day, and keep them moist. We will know in 18 days if the chicks are going to hatch.

April Performance

We have a performance scheduled for next week, April 29th and 30th at 10:00a.m. We hope to see you there! There will not be a May performance. Unbelievably, the next one will be in June for our graduation celebration. Where has the time gone?

Happy Birthday!

May :

Riley — 5/7/04

Teacher Sharon — 5/8/?

Mikaela — 5/25/04

Taylor — 5/26/05

At Rose Blossom School we celebrate the children's birthdays with a "walk around the sun" and we sing happy birthday. We also help the birthday boy or girl make a special crown, which s/he can wear all day.

If the family wants to bring in a treat to contribute to the school celebration, we ask that it not add too much sugar to their diet. Some ideas are sliced fruit, or quick bread muffins. Thank you!

Visit from a Vet

Colleen, Anna’s mom, is a vet. We are talking about animals in April, so we have scheduled a time for her to come and do a presentation for us, and she may even bring her pet dog for the presentation. The date is Wednesday, May 13th, at 10:00a.m.

Celebrating Spring with Juliet

Juliet Goldstein will be coming to Rose Blossom School to celebrate springtime with the children on May 6th and 7th. There is a $6 fee for this special once a season class with Juliet. If you would like your child to attend this class, please use the sign up sheet to let us know. Thank you!

Tumbling Tutor

Mr. Strawberry will not be at Rose Blossom the last week of April. May is his last month of the school year. He will provide everyone with a bill for the last month, taking into account rollover payments that have already been made. Please wait for his bill before paying for May. Thank you, and I’m so glad that we have been able to have Tumbling Tutor this year at school.

Photo Days

Amber will be at Rose Blossom to take our end of the school year photos on May 27th and 28th from 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. If you are bringing your child in special for these photo days, or bringing siblings for the photos as well, please come before 9:45 to give her time to set up for you. The photos will be ready on June 8th and 9th, and will be at school waiting for you when you pick up your child that day.

The package prices for the photos are less this year than last year!
Cost per photo sheet: $13
6 sheets: $50+
8 sheets: $70+
The entire package plus a CD of the photos: $99

There is no obligation to buy any photos, and there is always a complimentary gift and the school photo, just for sitting for the pictures.

Fund Raiser — Student’s Art Sale

Rose Blossom’s annual fund raiser is a student art sale that takes place the first two weeks of June. Selections of your child’s art will be put on mat boards and hung up in the yard, to be viewed and purchased when you pick up your child. We have thoroughly enjoyed this art show/sale in the past, and are looking forward to it again this year. Thank you in advance for you support. We put the money that is raised to use by purchasing equipment for the yard, or educational games for the children.

Graduation/End of school year

The graduation and end of school year celebration is on Thursday, June 11, 2009 from 9:00 – 11:00a.m. All Rose Blossom families and friends are invited.

The last day of school is Friday, June 12, 2009. Summer session begins on Monday, June 15th, 2009.

Thank you all for your incredible support and personal contributions that help make Rose Blossom what it is for all of the children.
