Blossoms: A newsletter for the family and friends of Rose Blossom Nursery School

November and December 2008

Dear Parents,

The Rose Blossom School Halloween Bash was so much fun! The costumes were fabulous, the performance was happy, the food delicious, and the games fun. The Haunted House was an intriguing new addition, and the children enjoyed game playing, like the ball toss into the cauldron. If you haven’t yet seen photos of the day, they are on the picasa gallery. Thank you so much for a memorable party!

The Halloween party helped the children understand that they are a group, and that they can accomplish a lot of things as a group. When we returned to school in November, there was a feeling of friendship and cooperation that we have been enjoying ever since. The children are now familiar with the routines and schedule of school. They are moving forward in all areas of learning; phonics, numbers, art, writing, creativity, singing, and playing. They are enthusiastic and enjoy the choices they are making throughout the day.

Happy Birthday!

November :

Sophia — 11/07/04

December :

Olivia — 12/02/04

Catie — 12/05/03

Justin — 12/09/03

At Rose Blossom School we celebrate the children's birthdays with a "walk around the sun" and we sing happy birthday. We also help the birthday boy or girl make a special crown, which s/he can wear all day.

If the family wants to bring in a treat to contribute to the school celebration, we ask that it not add too much sugar to their diet. Some ideas are sliced fruit, or quick bread muffins. Thank you!

Tumbling Tutor

Tumbling Tutor will meet on Mondays and Thursdays for the first two weeks of December, and will resume when we return in January 2009.

Monthly Themes

November & December Themes

Numbers, Nutrition, Thanksgiving, Holidays

Our November themes overlap beautifully; food fits in with the Thanksgiving celebrations and we can count pumpkins and turkeys galore!

The children are learning the story of Thanksgiving and are asked to think about what they are thankful for. In December, we talk about giving as well as receiving gifts and that gifts don’t have to be bought with money. What makes a gift a gift?

In December, we will also be talking about how people celebrate the holidays of Christmas and Hanukkah. If there are any other ways that your family celebrates at this time of the year, please let us know, so we can include your holiday ways of celebrating. Thank you!

Performances!!

There will not be a performance in November. School is closed Thursday and Friday, the 27th, and 28th. Enjoy your holiday, Happy Thanksgiving!

Our next performance will be in December, This will be a holiday performance, and will take place on two consecutive days, at 10:00 a.m. This is different from the first two performances, so please mark your calendars. The dates of the performance are Thur, December 18th, and Fri. December 19th. There will NOT be a potluck afterwards. The children will come in for their regular snack time at 10:30. Doing it this way minimizes changes in the children’s schedule. We hope you can make it for at least one of the performances. Families and friends are invited. Happy Holidays!

We Welcome To Rose Blossom School

Harrison, and his family. Harrison joined Rose Blossom after Harry’s family moved to the Big Island of Hawaii. We wish Harry and his family a wonderful time in Hawaii, and welcome Harrison, who is already having a great time at school! Parents, please take home the new phone lists from your child’s folder on the wall.
