Blossoms: A newsletter for the family and friends of Rose Blossom Nursery School

May and June 2008

Dear Parents,

As we approach the end of the school year, the children are eager to learn. In addition to the monthly themes, the children are moving ahead with phonics and reading, and writing numbers and letters. Progress reports will be given for the children who are graduating from Rose Blossom School.

It is hard to believe the end of the school year is approaching!

We hope to see you at our end of the year celebration, June 12th.

Thank you for a wonderful school year. It takes a community to raise a child!

Secret Garden

We are making use of the “secret garden” when it is hot outside. The area is shaded; we bring in blankets and pillows, and have a story book time in the shade, surrounded by plants and flowers. Nice!

Photo days

Photo days are Wed., May 28th, and Thurs., May 29th, from 8:30AM – 10:00AM. All children who sit for a portrait will receive a tote bag with their photo on it.

If your child cannot be at school on these days for photos, please talk with Sharon about alternatives for picture taking. We would enjoy having everyone in the class picture!

Photos will be ready for viewing and purchasing the last week of school, at pick-up times.

May/June Themes

Mother’s Day, Time, Money, Instruments, Communities, Graduation

Learning how to tell time to the hour, and recognize coins and dollars is fun and rewarding for the children. They may be telling you the time and counting money before you know it!

The children are learning about instruments, and also having opportunities to try out instruments for themselves. We have child size guitars, a ukulele, drums, tambourines, rattles, cymbals, etc., that the children are playing in a “jammin’” circle out in the yard.

Parents are invited to either send instruments to school with the children, or, if you play an instrument, to schedule a time to come in and play for us!

Rose Blossom Art Sale

Student’s art will be on sale at Rose Blossom during the first two weeks of June. This is a wonderful fund-raiser, as it validates the children’s gifts as artists, and also shows them the value of money as a means of exchange. The funds go towards improvements at Rose Blossom School. Thank you in advance for your support!

Rose Blossom School’s First Annual Reunion

Rose Blossom School’s First Annual Reunion is scheduled for Saturday, July 25th, from 10:30am – 1:00pm.

All families from Rose Blossom School, going back to at least the school year 2000-2001, will be invited. It is fun to be starting this tradition!

If you can, please stop by that day for lunch, and to say hello to Rose Blossom families, past and present.

Happy Father’s Day!

Our performance in June is also our graduation celebration. Graduation is June 12th.

ALL students and their families and friends are invited to this special event, even if Thursday is not your usual day at Rose Blossom School. The performance and end of year ceremony will be followed by a pot-luck party. (See calendar)
