Blossoms: A newsletter for the family and friends of Rose Blossom Nursery SchoolSeptember and October 2006Dear Parents,October was a fun month, with the children enjoying the fall weather, painting pumpkins, carving pumpkins, making applesauce, and otherwise preparing for Halloween. The children are painting up a storm in the art room, making a fall mural with many colored leaves, and pictures with fall colors. There was a lot of interest in their costumes, and they enjoyed the fall and Halloween songs. What a wonderful Halloween Party! The children looked wonderful in their costumes, and were champs at the performance. The games were a hit, and of course, the food. It was a lot of fun being dressed up in costumes and having a party time at school. Thank you for your participation in the Halloween Party, the help with food, and games, and set up, and take down, and just having a good time at Rose Blossom School. The gatherings are different for the November and December monthly performances. Rather than an all-school gathering, we will hold the performances on two different days, the last Wed. and Thurs. of each month, at 10:00 AM. This is the children’s usual singing time, and you are invited to come watch your child sing. Instead of a potluck, the children will come back in to school and have their usual snack. The performance usually takes about 15-20 minutes. We’d love to have you come, if you can! — Sharon Rose, Director Happy Birthday!November:Jeffrey 11/05/02Noah 11/21/02Emma 11/29/01December:Sophia 12/30/02Monthly ThemesNovember:Numbers, Nutrition, Thanksgiving We are counting, learning to write numbers, playing number games, singing number songs. What are numbers for – COUNTING! What are letters for – SOUNDS! We are also singing alphabet songs, and learning the difference between numbers and letters. For nutrition, we are singing songs about food, learning the names of food, and food groups. What foods help us to grow and play and be nice to our friends? The children will cut out pictures of food and paste them onto paper plates, and we are deciding what food groups our lunches have in them… For Thanksgiving we will talk about what we are thankful for, and what the pilgrims might have been thankful for. Since food is such a big part of Thanksgiving, it ties in nicely with our nutrition focus. November is National Nutrition month! The end of the month performance will be in two different groups, the children who are here on Wed., and on Thurs., will perform at 10:00, their usual meeting time. We will set up in the church sanctuary if it is available, families and friends are invited, but there will be not potluck afterwards. We’d love it if you could come! December:Holidays We will talk about and prepare for the December holidays, especially the holidays of the children at Rose Blossom School. If your family celebrates a holiday from another country or another culture, please let us know, so we can include these traditions in our December activities. A Holiday Performance is scheduled for December 20th and 21st at 10:00 AM. There will be singing and dancing but no pot luck afterwards. All Rose Blossom families and friends are invited! FYILost & Found is in the bottom drawer of the dresser in the bathroom, if you find that you are missing a child’s jacket or sweater, or….
