Blossoms: A newsletter for the family and friends of Rose Blossom Nursery School

May and June 2006

Dear Parents,

Thank you so much for the birthday present! Imagine my surprise at finding a beautiful peach colored rose plant, and what a wonderful idea, for me to spend time at the spa.

As we approach the end of the school year, the children are eager to learn. In addition to the monthly themes, the children are moving ahead with phonics and reading, and writing numbers and letters. June progress reports will be given for the children who are graduating from Rose Blossom School.

We hope to see you at our end of the year celebration, June 15th.

It has been a fabulous year!

Happy Birthday!

May:

May 11, 2001 - Jared

May 17, 2002 – Jeremy

May 17, 2001 - Logan

May 29, 2001 – Mia

May 8 – Teacher Sharon

We celebrate the children's birthdays at school with a "walk around the sun" for the number of years of the birthday, and we sing happy birthday. We also help the birthday boy or girl make a birthday crown, which he/she can wear all day, and especially for our ceremonial ritual.

If the family wants to bring a treat in to contribute to the school celebration, we ask that it not add too much sugar to their diet. We have noticed some creative ideas, like sliced fruit, mini quick bread muffins, and even party favors, like small bubble bottles.

Monthly Themes

May/June Themes:

Mother’s Day, Time, Money, Gardening, Bugs, Instruments, Communities, Graduation

Learning how to tell time to the hour, and recognize coins and dollars has been fun and rewarding for the children. They will be telling you the time and counting coins before you know it!

We have also planted vegetable seeds, which have started to sprout, and flowers for Mother’s Day. Happy Mother’s Day!

As we shift into June topics, we are learning about different instruments, looking at maps, and how different communities live.

There is no May performance. Graduation is June 15th. Our performance in June is also our graduation celebration. ALL students and their families and friends are invited to this special event, even if Thursday is not your usual day at Rose Blossom School. The performance and end of year ceremony will be followed by a pot-luck party. Congratulations to all!

Photo Days

. . . are Tues., May 23rd, and Wed., May 24th, from 8:30AM – 10:00AM. All children receive a backpack with their photo on it, just for taking the picture.

Please fill out the form and place in the manila folder. Thank you!

** Rose Blossom Art Sale

Student’s art will be on sale at Rose Blossom the first week of June. This is a wonderful fund-raiser, validating the children’s gifts as artists, and also showing them how to use money as a means of exchange. The money benefits Rose Blossom School. Thank you in advance for your support!
