Blossoms: A newsletter for the family and friends of Rose Blossom Nursery School

May 2004

Dear Parents,

The school year is rapidly coming to a close, as we make plans for summer, and for fall. Rose Blossom School continues until June 25th, to make up for a late start this school year, with graduation scheduled for Thursday, June 24th. We will miss the families who are going on vacations in June, and look forward to seeing you again in the summer and fall.

The plan is to use the church space for our graduation ceremony, so that all of the children, their families, and friends can attend at the same time. School will be open the next day, Friday, June 25th, and then we will close for a week, before opening for summer session on July 5th.

All children receive end of the year graduation certificates, even if they are returning for summer or fall sessions.

Thank you again for the tremendous support from the families of Rose Blossom School. The children are happy, and learning, and creative, and, it takes a village to raise a child…

At Rose Blossom School, we celebrate the children’s birthdays with an earthly walk around the sun, for as many times as their birthday age. They also make a crown, which they wear for the celebration, and sometimes all day!

Work Party!

A work party is scheduled for June 5th, the first Saturday in June, to help assemble the new playground equipment. Other odd jobs include moving the storage shed, repairing a planter box, spreading out more bark…10:00am — ?

Can you make it? Let Sharon know.

Monthly Themes

Mother’s Day, Musical Instruments, Time, Money, Flowers…

The tadpoles, now turned frogs, are returned to the pond, and now silk worms are spinning their magic for us. Chaska and Callum are learning about silkworms, and have brought in two different types for us to observe. Soon, the silkworms will emerge from their cocoons…

Mother’s Day has kept us busy making cards, painting clay pots, and transplanting petunias for gifts for moms. The children loved doing it! We love you, Mom!

Now, we turn our attention to making clocks for telling time, and setting up a pretend store, in the yard, for pretend buying and selling with pretend money. Watch out, soon they will be reading the clock and making change for you!

May Performance

Our May Performance is on Wednesday, May 26th, and Thursday, May 27th, at 10:00am. Family and friends are invited to our musical creative dramatic performance.

Summer and Fall enrollment

Summer and Fall enrollment is well on its way. Please use the registration form to reserve your child’s place in Rose Blossom School. Enrollment for summer and fall is about one third full, with both returning students, and new families, too! Reserve your days as soon as possible, to get your first choice.

July is Tumbling Camp, with gymnastics on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, from 11:00am — 11:45am. August is Music Camp, with special music sessions two afternoons a week. See the summer session calendar for more details, and to enroll in these special camps.

Also, use the calendar on the summer enrollment to indicate vacation days ahead of time, and you don’t pay for those absent days! Thanks!

Open to the Community:

Peacemaking with Heart Language, ongoing sessions, Tuesday nights.

Please RSVP that you are coming. Session is from 6:00p.m.– 8:00p.m. at Rose Blossom School, and are modeled after Dr. Marshall Rosenberg’s work with Nonviolent Communication.

This is a fun and fascinating process, offering ideas and options for dealing with any potentially difficult situations, including parent/child, couples, friends, workplace…

Donation basis.
