Blossoms: A newsletter for the family and friends of Rose Blossom Nursery SchoolApril 2004Dear Parents,The children are enjoying the warm weather, and watching the signs of spring, ie: flowers blooming, tadpoles growing, gardens growing. Spring Break is right in the middle of the month of April, closing the school from Monday, April 12th through Friday, April 16th. This has us busily decorating eggs on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, April 5th – 7th, so we can hide them for the Easter Egg hunt on Thursday and Friday, April 8th and 9th. All children will be included. Starz Dance is going well, with the children spinning and twirling on Thursday and Friday afternoons. The accompanying CDs will be available sometime this month. It is wonderful to see the children having so much fun! Another big event last month, Juliet’s Spring Celebration, got rave reviews from the students. Celebrating Spring outside in the backyard, with the warm breeze, the new buds on the trees, the music…We can hardly wait for Juliet’s Summer Celebration to come… Sharon Rose, Director Fund RaiserWe are sponsoring a Family Reading Program as a fundraiser for Rose Blossom School. Please bring in your magazine orders, as they will be collected soon! We are raising funds for a painting center in the art room, and horizontal bars for the yard. Thank you for your support! New Students of Rose Blossom SchoolWelcome to Max Freedman, Emma’s brother, who is starting school this month. We are now taking registration for summer and fall ’04. Happy Birthday!Ella B. 4/28/00 At Rose Blossom School, we celebrate the children's birthdays with an earthly walk around the sun, for as many times as their birthday age. They also make a crown, which they wear for the celebration, and sometimes all day! Happy birthday to our April birthday girl! For Parents:You may have already noticed a new binder on the sign-in counter. It is full of articles of interest about education and other topics for parents. Feel free to read and copy any of the information. There is some good stuff in there! Monthly ThemesBaby Animals, Springtime, Spring Holidays, Planting SeedsThe tadpoles are growing, many have back legs and are growing front legs, too! They will soon be ready to go into the wild. Thanks to Drew and his family for gathering the tadpoles for us and bringing them in, and taking such good care of them at school. And Isabelle’s family has offered to give them a home in their pond. Which is good, because they are about ready to jump around! In April we are looking more at baby animals, studying how they hatch or are born, what they are called, etc. We are also planting seeds, to watch how the baby plants grow, too. The apple tree is in blossom, flowers are blooming, and spring fever is upon us…. Our April Performance is on Wed. and Thurs., April 28th and 30th, at 10:00AM. All families and friends are invited! CIRCUS TIME!Don, representing the police department, called to ask if I wanted to donate to their programs that help the youth of our county, by purchasing circus tickets. I told him I would pass the opportunity along to you, the families of Rose Blossom School. The tickets bought this way are considerably less expensive than if you would buy them the day of the circus, so it looks like this will help everyone! 3 Ring Gatti Circus, on Sunday, May 2nd, at the Santa Cruz Fairgrounds, 1:00PM and 5:00PM shows. This show has circus animals, elephants included! Family $30 - This pays for 2 adults and any 4 children. Adult $9 each Child $6 each Don has already forwarded two family packets for us, and says there is still time to order more. Enjoy the show! Open to the Community:Peacemaking with Heart Language, ongoing sessions, Monday nights. Please RSVP that you are coming. Session is 6:00p.m.–8:00p.m. at Rose Blossom School. The classes are modeled after Dr. Marshall Rosenberg's work with Nonviolent Communication. This is a fun and fascinating process, offering ideas and options for dealing with any potentially difficult situations. Donation basis. Cooking ClassFor cooking last month, we made pretzels from scratch, the children sniffing the yeast, and shaping animals and letters, and eating them for snack. Next time, maybe pizza?
